My Engipreneur® Journey

Embarking on my engineering career, I was filled with ambition and a clear vision of becoming a partner in a firm or starting my own. However, I quickly realized that achieving these goals traditionally could take decades—a timeline that didn’t align with my aspirations. Despite my drive, I faced a significant hurdle: a lack of practical business and entrepreneurial education during my academic and early professional years. The focus was overwhelmingly on technical skills, not gaining the knowledge and skills to progress toward my goal of becoming an entrepreneur.

The standard career path for engineers, requiring years of experience before even qualifying for leadership roles, seemed too slow for my ambitions. I found myself at a crossroads, seeking ways to accelerate my career but lacking role models or mentors who had deviated from the conventional route. This realization sparked a pivotal shift in my approach: I began to explore how I could integrate my engineering expertise with an entrepreneurial approach. This journey wasn’t just about acquiring new skills; it was about adopting an entrepreneurial mindset that transformed my perspective and approach to my career.

This transformation was profound. I learned to challenge the status quo and unlock the potential of an “Engipreneur”—an engineer with the vision and capability to see challenges as opportunities, creatively innovate solutions, and lead in new ways. Through years of determination, learning from both successes and failures, I founded my first company at 25 and went on to create and grow multiple engineering ventures, collectively surpassing eight figures in revenue.

Now, with 28 years of experience as an entrepreneurial engineer, my focus has shifted to mentoring. I aim to guide other engineers on a similar journey, offering the wisdom of my experiences to help them achieve success more efficiently and avoid the pitfalls I encountered.
